What are the benefits of using inert columns?

01 Aug 2025

When analyzing metal-sensitive or chelating compounds by HPLC, the biggest area of metal in the flow path is the LC column. By coating the surfaces of the column, we can eliminate the nonspecific binding or absorption of metal-sensitive compounds in the column. This results in a better response and an even peak shape for these compounds without the need to chemically passivate the column or use of tricky mobile phase additives.
