Other Test Method 50 (OTM-50): Sampling and Analysis of Volatile Fluorinated Compounds from Stationary Sources Using Passivated Stainless-Steel Canisters

U.S. EPA Method OTM-50 is a performance-based draft method that can be used for the analysis of 30 volatile fluorinated compounds (VFC) in air emissions from stationary sources. It includes multiple short-chain VFC, which may be monitored as indicators of incomplete PFAS decomposition. Emission samples are collected in passivated stainless-steel canisters and then analyzed by GC-MS using a PLOT column. Draft Method OTM-50 was released to encourage a consistent process for facilities, stationary source test teams, research laboratories, and other stakeholders and to promote discussion and further evaluation of the method.
