Les m\u00e9thodes bas\u00e9es sur la MS, telle que la m\u00e9thode US EPA 8270, sont couramment utilis\u00e9es pour l\u2019analyse des compos\u00e9s semi-volatils. Elles permettent de la flexibilit\u00e9 dans le choix d\u2019iinstruments adapt\u00e9s afin d\u2019atteindre les limites de d\u00e9tection MS les plus basses possibles. Certains laboratoires optent pour une instrumentation sensible, comme la GC-MS\/MS, ou bien la GC-MS en mode SIM (&#8220;selected ion monitoring&#8221;), tandis que d\u2019autres utilisent des m\u00e9thodes de scan plus traditionnelles. Les m\u00e9thodes en mode SIM et scan peuvent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement \u00eatre r\u00e9alis\u00e9es sur le m\u00eame instrument. Les m\u00e9thodes en mode scan sont simples et polyvalentes car elles permettent de collecter des signaux pour diverses masses de compos\u00e9s, alors que le mode SIM offre une plus grande sensibilit\u00e9 pour des ions sp\u00e9cifiques pr\u00e9d\u00e9finis dans les fen\u00eatres de temps de r\u00e9tention correspondantes. Les m\u00e9thodes en mode SIM sont souvent plus compliqu\u00e9es \u00e0  d\u00e9velopper et \u00e0 maintenir. Toutefois, dans le cas o\u00f9 les laboratoires cherchent \u00e0 abaisser les limites de d\u00e9tection, la GC-MS en mode SIM peut \u00eatre envisag\u00e9e comme une  alternative \u00e0 la GC-MS\/MS sans investir dans un nouvel instrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans cette \u00e9tude, nous avons optimis\u00e9 les conditions d\u2019analyse des compos\u00e9s semi-volatils par GC-MS en modes scan et SIM afin de proposer aux laboratoires \u00e0 la fois un flux de travail robuste en mode scan, et un mode SIM tr\u00e8s sensible alternatif \u00e0 la GC-MS\/MS (Figure 1). Nous avons choisi une colonne RMX-5Sil MS pour les deux m\u00e9thodes car elle offre la s\u00e9lectivit\u00e9 normale des colonnes 5Sil avec une inertie exceptionnelle pour le circuit de l\u2019\u00e9chantillon gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la nouvelle d\u00e9sactivation TriMax [1,2]. La Figure 1 montre que l\u2019asym\u00e9trie des pics pour les analytes cl\u00e9s (benzidine, pentachloroph\u00e9nol et 2,4-dinitroph\u00e9nol) a syst\u00e9matiquement respect\u00e9 les objectifs de qualit\u00e9 (\u2264 2). En outre, les crit\u00e8res de r\u00e9solution (&gt; 50 %) \u00e9taient facilement atteints pour les HAP difficiles \u00e0 s\u00e9parer (vall\u00e9e &gt; 94 % entre le benzo[b]fluoranth\u00e8ne et le benzo[k]fluoranth\u00e8ne et vall\u00e9e &gt; 95 % entre le ind\u00e9no[1,2,3-cd] pyr\u00e8ne et le dibenz[a,h]anthrac\u00e8ne). L\u2019utilisation d\u2019une colonne RMX-5Sil MS dans les conditions pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es ici a permis d\u2019obtenir d\u2019excellents r\u00e9sultats pour une large gamme de compos\u00e9s semi-volatils \u00e0 de tr\u00e8s faibles concentrations (1 ng on-column en mode scan et 200 pg on-column en mode SIM), permettant aux laboratoires de travailler en toute confiance \u00e0 des niveaux
