I programmi di monitoraggio utilizzano spesso l\u2019analisi GC Purge-and-Trap di composti volatili in campioni di suolo e acqua per tracciare la contaminazione da composti organici volatili. Le prime colonne di silice fusa impiegate per questa analisi si basavano su fasi stazionarie difenil dimetil polisilossano. Tuttavia, queste colonne rendono in genere complicata la risoluzione dei gas. Per supportare i laboratori che eseguono analisi Purge-and-Trap dei composti volatili, Restek ha progettato appositamente la colonna Rtx-VMS per ottimizzare la separazione dei VOC di rilevanza ambientale comunemente analizzati. La colonna Rtx-VMS \u00e8 caratterizzata da una fase stazionaria selettiva per i composti organici volatili, un film sufficientemente spesso da trattenere e risolvere i composti volatili a basso punto di ebollizione, nonch\u00e9 una stabilit\u00e0 che permette di eluire i VOC ad alto punto di ebollizione.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La colonna Rtx-VMS \u00e8 stata ottimizzata per l\u2019analisi dei composti volatili e quindi offre una risoluzione eccellente dei VOC pi\u00f9 critici, garantendo una quantificazione pi\u00f9 precisa con tempi di analisi rapidi. Come si evince dai cromatogrammi che seguono, \u00e8 possibile migliorare la qualit\u00e0 dei dati e la produttivit\u00e0 del laboratorio utilizzando una colonna Rtx-VMS insieme agli standard di riferimento certificati (CRM) di Restek. Nel primo esempio, si \u00e8 ottenuta una risoluzione eccellente degli 82&nbsp;contaminanti dell&#8217;acqua potabile elencati nel metodo EPA 524.3, inclusi o-xylene e styrene, che spesso coeluiscono su altre colonne. I laboratori che effettuano l\u2019analisi in acqua potabile dei sette composti volatili elencati nella terza regola di monitoraggio dei contaminanti non regolamentati (Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule 3, UCMR3) trarranno enorme vantaggio dall\u2019applicazione e dai prodotti qui presentati. Avere a disposizione tutti i composti organici volatili in sole tre ampolle e la documentazione CRM semplifica l&#8217;attivit\u00e0 di calibrazione. Inoltre, grazie alla separazione e rilevazione dei composti volatili con la colonna Rtx-VMS si ottengono i migliori dati qualitativi per l\u2019analisi Purge-and-Trap dei composti volatili nell\u2019acqua potabile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il secondo cromatogramma di seguito mostra le prestazioni della colonna Rtx-VMS in termini di separazione di un elenco pi\u00f9 vasto di composti volatili, nello specifico i 102 elencati nel metodo EPA 8260. Mentre il metodo EPA 524.3 \u00e8 stato elaborato per i composti organici spurgabili in campioni di acqua, il metodo EPA 8260 pu\u00f2 essere impiegato per l\u2019analisi Purge-and-Trap di composti volatili in una gamma molto pi\u00f9 diversificata di campioni (suolo, acqua, rifiuti solidi, ecc.). In questo esempio si ottengono ancora una volta buoni risultati cromatografici per i composti volatili a eluizione sia rapida che tardiva, ma particolarmente degna di rilievo \u00e8 la separazione dei composti ossigenati. I composti ossigenati vengono aggiunti alle benzine per aumentare le prestazioni del carburante e sono composti target nelle attivit\u00e0 di monitoraggio delle perdite dei serbatoi di stoccaggio sotterranei. L\u2019analisi GC-MS Purge-and-Trap con una colonna Rtx-VMS altamente selettiva \u00e8 raccomandata per questo metodo perch\u00e9 i composti ossigenati chiave, quali methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) e tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), coeluiscono su altre colonne GC e condividono anche gli ioni utilizzati per l\u2019identificazione. Oltre a separare questi componenti negli standard di riferimento indicati sotto, la colonna Rtx-VMS \u00e8 in grado di risolvere MTBE e TBA, come pure altri composti ossigenati, da altri composti target e componenti della matrice potenzialmente interferenti presenti nella benzina.
